The second medicine is necessary because Phentermine used alone starts to lose effectiveness after a few months.
The second medicine prolongs the presence of the appetite curbing neurotransmitters promoting the longevity of satiety. With the increased period of appetite suppression, fewer calories are taken in so that weight loss occurs sooner than what can be expected from other weight loss medications.
Although the second medicine is also an antidepressant, its use in the combination has absolutely nothing to do with depression.
